Writing a Children’s Book Changed My Life.

Recently, I’ve been taking on the task of requesting testimonials from authors I’ve worked with to bring their books to life, and it occurred to me that I haven’t shared my own, personal testimonial as an author in a while. In fact, I may not have ever shared how writing my first book changed my life completely. It’s time to fix that.

So I’m on YouTube a lot. Maybe more than Facebook now, I’m not sure. But I’ve noticed a trend lately. Small channel YouTubers are posting videos titled “YouTube Changed My Life (Under 500 Subs)”

As the host of a very small channel (currently 202 subs), I thought about it. But then I decided to take a different approach. Yesterday, I uploaded a video explaining how being a children’s book author changed my own life in three basic ways:

  • It helps me raise awareness for a cause I care about (hearing loss, hearing devices, and sign language)
  • It’s not only changed my life, but continues to impact the lives of others.
  • It’s single-handedly transformed my career as a book designer and self-publishing coach (that last title came after the book.)

This is just the basic outline. The video goes into detail the many ways my life is changed. But the truth is, writing a children’s book can change your life, too! If you’ve ever considered it, I highly recommend it.

If you would, watch my testimonial via the video below. If you’ve already written a book, leave a comment how your own book has impacted you. But if you have an idea for a new book or maybe you’ve written a manuscript and you’re unsure what to do next, I invite you to download my free Author Roadmap with three essential questions you need to ask yourself before you get started.

Now as my dad always says, “Y’all come back when you can stay longer!”
