Pea-ple of the World was an interesting book to work on because there was quite a language barrier between the author and illustrator. We struggled to get images large enough to use. The first images we received were only large enough for about a 3″ book! Slowly we were able to get images large enough to use, and to complement the artwork we chose to take some creative liberties with the text, as you can see in these samples.
Book Description
Pea-ple of the World is a literary work that illustrates real and common family structures spoken through forms of diverse peas in pods. These portrayals are the family structures that populate our neighborhoods, school districts, friend circles; family structures geared to represent yours and mine; family structures that make up the Pea-ple of the World.
Being thoughtful and being mindful is the greatest gift you can give a child. This is the book that needs to be on our children’s nightstands; the message that needs to be whispered into little ears before bed.
