Carli knows a thing or two about hearts. As a mom of a boy named Finn who has vascular ring—a congenital heart defect also known as CHD—it was Finn’s other heart, his emotional heart, his heart full of love that inspired Carli to write a love story to Finn in the form of a children’s book titled Extra Special Heart.

In this episode of The Coffee & Kidlit Show, Carli Valentine talks about her book Extra Special Heart and its impact on her own family and many other families of children with congenital heart defects. Carli also gives some great advice for those considering writing their own children’s books based on life experiences.
